Hampton Court!

Hampton Court (from the back)
Our group took a train to Hampton Court this morning. It was really cool. There was so much to explore. J Lots of different rooms and areas to see. Each of the rulers had added a new wing when they came to power and that was really cool to see the different styles. The gardens were gorgeous too. However, the maze was closed, which was sad because that’s what I wanted to see the most. Oh well. There was a family of swans in their ponds too. They were super cute. They also had a covered walkway. It was really pretty. I want one.

Hampton Court gardens
Oh! Funny story at Hampton. We were walking through the Georgian Halls when we ran into a guy dressed as King George. There were 5 of us in our group (3 in velvet robes from the tour) and King George and some other guy was with him. King George started talking to us in German. Of course, none of us speak German so we just stood there and said, “No.” Eventually he switched to English and was slightly humored because he had been asking us if we spoke German and we’d been answering no. The king was talking to us in German and the other guy with him said, “Oh they’re from the Americas.” Then we agreed with him and they asked us which colony we were from, which was super awkward because Utah hadn’t been settled yet. So we said something like, “Way out west.” And then they got all excited because we were from the “savage” territories. They said something like, “Well at least someone gave them more appropriate attire and they aren’t wearing animal skins.” And I found that very funny because I was wearing my leather jacket and leather boots. It was pretty funny. So, we referred to ourselves as savages for the rest of the day. It was a fun trip.

Had fish n’chips again at a little shop on our way back from Hampton. Not the best I’ve had. I think the best fish n’chips I had were in Ireland. J On the way back to our flat we stopped by Platform 9 ¾ because some of the people in our group hadn’t gotten their pictures yet. So, that was fun.

Then I came home. It was wonderful. I was so tired. A group went off to a YSA dance I had the room to myself. So, I wrote a paper. Bleh. Oh well. It had to be done.

Um…yeah. That was pretty much my day. It was great. Good weather, beautiful gardens, etc.

Enjoy the pictures! (There are actually more than 2 this time!) J
