Cambridge University

The park we ate ice cream at.
So, we took a bus ride this morning to Cambridge. It was pretty. But, I’ve decided that I like Oxford better. Oxford was bigger, more authentic, and less touristy. Cambridge felt like a tourist attraction rather than a university. Unfortunately, most of the colleges were closed because it’s finals week. A detail that we didn’t know prior to arriving in Cambridge. So, instead of visiting the various colleges, we just wandered around outside. We ended up at a mall (which only added to the touristy feel) and got a light lunch. I had a wonderful smoothie. One of the best smoothies I’ve ever had. Anyway, after that we headed out by the river and walked along it for a bit.

The Gust of Wind
Then we stumbled upon an art museum and spent some time in there. The museum building had some amazing architecture. It was absolutely gorgeous! But, there were some wonderful paintings as well. Saw some Monet and some Picasso. My favorite painting was The Gust of Wind by Renoir. They also had a more science based exhibit that had fossils and things. They had a telescope module that was part of a much larger telescope with something like 2,500 different modules. Some of them had been nicknamed after things in Harry Potter. The one we saw was called Triwizard Tournament. They also had a room of weapons. There were some pretty cool ones. They had a few that had multiple functions. A rifle/hatchet and a pistol/knife. They were awesome. After that we decided to just hang out on this huge grassy field and eat ice cream until our bus came back.

And then we caught the bus home, stopped at the grocery store to buy chips and salsa so we could have nachos for dinner (because we were craving them. Mexican food isn’t really a thing here in London). And then I did more laundry. I can’t wait to be home and not have to walk and pay to do laundry. J

I’m sorry I don’t have many pictures of Cambridge. It just wasn’t as photogenic as Oxford. J
